Yep, our Branchial Cleft surgeon Dr. Green is pretty brilliant...

When he's not working on rare branchial cleft abnormalities, our surgeon Dr. Glenn Green of the University of Michigan is making pediatric ENT history!  Check out this MSNBC story on him and his team creating the first-ever 3-D laser printed implantable device, in order to save the life of a little guy with a constantly collapsing trachea.  Moral of the story?  Always find a world-class surgeon to open your baby's neck.

If you loved your branchial cleft surgeon and think he or she is world-class, tell us!  Let's share our best branchial cleft surgeon recommendations from around the country in the comments to this post and make sure every parent can find a great surgeon in their region to consult with on this rare congenital disorder!

  1. Thank you so much for posting your family's story on here. My daughter Arianna is 30 months old and will be having surgery tomorrow 08/19/2013. She has the 4th Branchial cleft cyst. I'm terrified of course and seeing photos of your little Kate and reading what happened really is preparing me for tomorrow. Thank you, it's so hard to find stories about it to help with the anxiety. Thank you.

  2. It's a sinus not a cyst. Sorry for the mix up.

  3. Do you know if these doctors or any doctors they know, do surgeries on a 3 year old girl with an infected "type 1 branchial cleft anomaly" she have been on antibiotics since Oct 1 2013, they just changed the antibiotic on October 14.

  4. Thank you for creating this blog! We have a 13 month old daughter with a branchial cleft fistula. Seeing how well your daughter recovered from her surgery has helped me a lot to deal with the anxiety! Our daughter hasn't had any problems with her fistula so far but we are now planning to get it removed in the near future. As we are new to the Los Angeles area, any recommendations about expert surgeons for this disease from any family who has gone through the same would be more than appreciated! Thank you so much! leonore23[at]hotmail.com

  5. I have always wanted to be a surgeon. It's not so much the pay as much as I just really enjoy the work place. I love hospitals and the vibe.
